The FRFC100 Community Sport Fund Launched

The FRFC100 Community Sport Fund Launched

George Loureda1 Nov - 15:17

This year, Finchley RFC turns 100, that’s 100 years of success, teamwork, and, above all, passion!

Finchley RFC sits at the heart of our community. We are One Club: players, coaches, parents, supporters, alumni, social members and sponsors - who strive to facilitate all aspects of the enjoyment of rugby for every member.

Our One Club Vision is to become the most highly regarded Community Rugby Club in North London. The experience we provide, the way we play, the way we host, the way we operate and the way we execute.

To support our One Club Vision, we are launching the FRFC100 Community Sport Fund. Our goal is to collectively raise £100,000 by the end of 2025 through fundraising, grants, and sponsorship. We will seek to match this with a further £100,000 in pro bono contributions.

These funds will enable us to fund five specific projects (described below) which give the club a sustainable future and provide a platform for our One Club vision. We are calling on players, members, parents and the local community to join us in raising funds throughout the year.

This is a once in a generation opportunity to add a collective mission to our centenary celebrations and ensure that the club starts its second century with improved facilities and a sustainable foundation for the future.

There are five pillars which support our One Club Vision:

Facilities and Infrastructure: To have the best facilities of any Community Rugby Club in North London by improving existing and investing in new infrastructure.

Financial Health: Become independently financially sustainable with year-on-year growth, a growing reserve including financial transparency and accountability.

Membership: Consistently increase the playing and social membership by growing numbers, encouraging diversity, improving engagement, and adding value.

Community Engagement: Engage across every part of the local community to become better neighbours, and the most integrated rugby club in North London.

Rugby: Improve the breadth & depth of rugby played and the standards / performance achieved across the whole Club, providing every member with a full rugby experience.

The Five Selected Projects
The Committee has carefully chosen five projects which will improve sporting involvement in the club and community and support our One Club Vision. There will be more detailed information and a separate campaign for each project. Funds left over from one project will cascade to the next.

Project 1 LIVE NOW!!
Target £20k – We are building a Community Gym. This will be built on site and house high-end gym equipment that has already been donated to the club. These facilities will be open to members of all ages and the local community to provide a safe and friendly place where you can improve fitness and well-being.

Project 2 - Next, we will be expanding our Women and Girls changing facilities to support their continuing success and growth.
Working in tandem with club sponsor, Regal London and Barnet Council, we have an ambitious programme of works for our facilities.

Project 3 - The Glebelands pitches are vital to the sustainability of the club. It is a major priority to improve the drainage and make them suitable for play all year round.

Project 4 - our historic cantilevered stand is the last remaining structure from the original Glebelands site built in the 1930’s. We plan to renovate this back to its original glory so that it can be enjoyed by future generations at FRFC.

Project 5 Renovate the back bar, to increase space in the clubhouse, provide access to the terrace and make the clubhouse more attractive as a venue for members and the community.

You can help! In addition to planned fundraising events, we are encouraging each member and team to join the fundraising effort over the next year.

We can’t raise this from members alone. We want to involve the local community to help us raise funds. That means appealing to schools, businesses and residents to participate. We need to THINK BIG!
• Can your company donate a BIG prize for a community raffle?
• Can you or your business donate or help us raise funds for the club?
• Have you and your friends got a fundraising idea?

All suggestions welcome. Let’s do this! Contact us with your ideas and the club can support you in making it a reality.
