Finchley made the trip to the famous Wasps and came away with a storming success rate of five wins and one draw from six matches, all in the absence of our head coach. Details have to be even more vague than usual as a shortage of coaches forced your correspondent into action to help one of the teams.
After an enjoyable warm-up session the boys were spilt into three teams. There were wins of 3-2 and 7-5 for one group, 10-3 and 7-5 for another and my bunch won 6-4 (in a heavy duty battle that left four of the seven players nursing injuries) and drew the last one 7-7, although with a neutral ref who could tell the time and spot forward passes they would have completed a clean sweep.
