We are very sad to let you know that Jim passed away peacefully on the
9th of October after a long battle with cancer.

He was a true stalwart of the Club, having joined as a Colts player in
1964, making him the longest serving active member. His senior playing
career started in the 1 st XV in 1968 and spanned several years before
furthering his career at London Irish, London Welsh, The Netherlands
and won an international cap for Brunei in the Hong Kong sevens. He
returned to Finchley to become an illustrious member of the Hawks XV.

Off the field, he coached the seniors and youth, held several committee
positions, was bar chairman and sponsored the Club for a few Seasons.

Above all else he was a true Finchley man, he loved the Club and with
his sense of humour, comradery, wit, generosity of spirit and warmth he
will be sorely missed. He really was ‘Big Jim’ in so many senses.

A funeral will be held on Friday, November 1 st at 1.20 pm at

Mortlake Crematorium
Kew Meadows Path,
Townmead Road,
London,
TW9 4EN

This will be followed by drinks at -

The Viaduct,

London,
W7 3TD

At Finchley RFC on Saturday, 23 rd November from 4pm there will be a
celebration of his life, where his family hope as many as possible will be
able to raise a few glasses with them for a great man.
